Today’s thoughts!

Standard

the other day I asked everyone on my Facebook when a good time to start decorating with small seasonal decorations was. I got few answers but most thought after thanksgiving was the earliest it should be. This weeks weather report is calling for flurries so im going to let the weather decide when things such as the pinecones and silver bells and candles and such will start to make their appearance in my home if there is snow in the air this week then I will start making my home winter cozy if, on the other hand there is no snow in the air this week I will wait till after thanksgiving to start any seasonal/Holiday decorating.

I made this while sorting holiday decorations what do you think acceptable early holiday décor ?

TURKEY TURKEY!!

Standard

My first Thanksgiving nails.

It is now time to start thinking about TURKEY so what better way to do it then on my nails. Now I like cute and silly things anyway and you add to it the fact that I’m not the best artist and you get a googly eyed turkey…lol

I started off with my base coat then 2 layers of Sinfulcolors (skylark) after letting that dry for about 10-15 min, I played online, I out-lined my thumb and pinky then painted a sort of circle at the bottom of the nail on both middle fingers and a feather/leaf shape on my index and ring fingers with Nail Art (Cocoa) and let all that dry for about 3 min.

Then taking SinfulColors nail art (Flower Girl) I filled in the feather/leaf with this sparkling gold. Then I took SinfulColors (exotic green and berry charm) and Spoiled by wet n wild (Designated Driver) and just made some thick short stripes above the brown circle (turkey body) then I took the gold and made a small triangle on the brown for the beak.

wile I waited for the feathers to dry I made two small white dots just above the beak I then put my top coat on all the nails except the middle fingers by the time I was finished with that it was time to put the smaller black dots in the middle of the white dots to finish the eyes. after letting that dry for about 4 min I then top coated it.

Thankful tree

Thankful tree

To create your own Thankful Tree you need:
1.Gallon mason jar or any sort of tall container like a vase or even decorate an old pringles container.

2. Paper bags from past grocery trips or scrap construction paper.

3.Twine, Sticks from your yard, Scrapbook paper, Scissors Leaf stencil and a Hole punch. If you don’t have a leave stencil then you can just free hand it or simply cut out any shape you want.

What you do:
1.Shred your paper bag and arrange in your jar.

2.Send your hubby outside to gather a few sticks/branches with the kids then
Choose your best sticks from their stash.
3.Put the sticks in your jar of paper bag shreds.
4.Tie some twine around the neck of the jar to decorate it or you can use ribbon or what ever you have.
5.Cut out leaves from your scrapbook paper. If you don’t have scrap book paper you can use construction paper or even computer paper.
6.Start writing what you are thankful for then punch holes in the leaf and loop some twine through so you can hang your leaf. You can also use ribbon or simply make the wholes big enough to slip over the end of the twigs.

Then every night (we plan on doing ours at dinner) everyone gets to put a leaf on the tree and say what they are thankful for. you can also do this for a holiday party and have each of your guests fill out a leaf. You can put this up just a few days before thanksgiving or sooner and have it up for the entire holiday season it up to you.

DIY gifts for him

Standard

We all know that the man in your life is always the most difficult to buy for when it comes to gifts. Well I wanted to give you some DIY ideals for your man. I have done some of these in past years for my husband and he has truly loved them the others I am planning on doing this year or next.

1. we have all seen the little coupon books in the last minute gift ideal section of most stores well I made my husband one at home that was tailored just for him and he still holds on to it many years later. I asked him one day if he was not going to use any of the coupons why didn’t he just toss it his reply was simple ” you made it for me and it reminds me how well you know me and the fact that you would take the time to make it for me show how much you care”

I simply cut some stripes of white computer paper and punched two holes in each piece, one at the top and one at the bottom, and tied them together with ribbon. I then set down and thought of my husband and what he would like. I then simply and neatly wrote out the coupons with things like, this coupon entitles you to one bubble bath, with this coupon you will receive a meal of your choosing to be made on a night of your choosing, or with this coupon you will receive on free foot massage. I also but some fun ones in there like one free kiss or anything you wish…and yes that one was for he and I time only…he loved that one.

2. My husband loves his baths so I put together a bath time mini spa kit for him and the best part was it coast me nothing but a bit of time on the computer. I simply filled out for some free samples and collected the sample size items that sometimes come with the purchase of full sized items that I needed to get any way.

3. This one I plan on doing for next year and will be starting soon. I am going to get a small note book and write at least one thing each day for an entire year. I plan on writing one thing each day telling how much I love him or why or simply something he did that made me proud that day. just some little thing to remind him of the man I know see and love each day. I know we can sometimes forget but men need to be reminded of there worth and our love just as much as we do.

4. My husband and I are big coffee drinkers so this year I am making a coffee mug for him. I wish I could remember were I saw the post about this but I cant but all you have to do is get a plain white mug and draw or write whatever you want on it with sharpie. Then you bake it in the oven on 350 for about 30-40 min and you have a beautiful custom mug. just a tip though: the cheaper the mug the better the design will hold. this is do to the glaze on the mugs the cheaper ones meld with the sharpie better so dollar store mugs are great for this one.
